Lagos Residents Lament Poor Power Supply

By Ezeagu Gladys

Dwellers of Olowu community in Amuwo Odofin, Lagos State has groaned over the poor electricity supply in their environs.

Some of the residents who disclosed the situation lamented that they had expected the situation to improve with the regular patrol of Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company (IKEDC) officials, but reverse seems to be the case.

According to a business woman in the area, Mrs. Alice Odungbe, ''inadequate power supply had crippled my business; I have lost many customers because when they fluctuated the power last week, it damaged two of my freezers, which I was told would cost N30,000; and how much do I make per day after all expenses.
IKEDC should supply regular electricity that commensurate with the crazy bills we pay.''

Speaking on areas mostly affected, a landlord, Mr Bright Chucks dictated Paul Okpanachi Avenue, Banjo Street, and Taiwo Street, among areas bitterly complaining over the unending trauma that IKEDC has subjected them to.

Futhermore, a tenant in Paul Okpanachi Avenue, Mr. Odunyemi Oluwaseun, added that areas like Fatade, Oluwaga, Peace Estate next to Jamiu Lawal has had improved power supply, but theirs is not giving hope for improvement.

"Why is Paul Okpanachi Avenue different from the others?" he said angrily and urged the State Government to urgently address the situation promptly.
random interview conducted for dwellers interviewed in affected areas testified that some of them is currently enjoying distorted electricity for days and weeks now, in contrary to situations in the past, when they had to uninterrupted power supply for days, weeks, and, even months.
